Biography

Abigail (Abby) Cember, Ph.D., is the Director of Research Partnerships at Rhino Federated Computing in Boston, USA. Abby received her Ph.D. from the Biochemistry and Biophysics graduate group at the University of Pennsylvania at the Center for Advanced Metabolic Imaging in Precision Medicine. She subsequently worked in consulting, focusing on healthcare markets in the Middle East, and for Yale University as a member of the dean’s office in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. She currently serves as the director of research partnerships at Rhino, where she oversees the use of the Rhino federated computing platform by academic and other research users. She works with doctors, engineers, data scientists and other technical specialists to deploy federated computing to execute projects previously intractable due to concerns about the security of models and data.

Biography

Prof. Mohamed Essaaidi is a Professor and past Dean of ENSIAS school of Computer Science, Mohammed V University, Rabat, Morocco, and is CEO of the Moroccan School of Engineering Science (EMSI) Group, (2023-2024), Chief of Party of Interactive Digital & XR Center Morocco at UM6P (2020-2025), Past Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of General Affairs & Governance, Morocco (2019), and past faculty member of the Abdelmalek Essaadi University, Tetuan, Morocco (1993-2011).

He is an IEEE Senior Member, he was the IEEE Morocco Section Founding Chair (2004), IEEE MTT-S/AP-S Morocco Chapter Founding Chair (2008), IEEE Global Cities Alliance, Middle East & Africa Chairman (2020-2022), and he has been the IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Board Programs Committee Chair and IEEE Special Interest Group on Humanitarian Technologies Global Chair since January (2023-2024), IEEE Public Safety Technology, Education Chair (2021-22).

Prof. Essaaidi is a the recipient of the 2023 IEEE MGA Larry K. Wilson Transnational Award For “exemplary leadership, significant contributions, and sustained excellence in leading IEEE Technical Activities and Humanitarian programs globally”, 2024 IEEE Education Society William E. Sayle II Award For “leadership in and contributions to advancing engineering education and digital transformation”, 2024 APEX Grand Award in the Electronic Media category as the guest co-editor of IEEE HKN THE BRIDGE, Issue 3, Volume 119, “Humanitarian Technologies for a Sustainable Society”, he was inducted in the IEEE Etta Kappa Nu (honor society) in July 2024 in recognition for “excellent scholarship and other attainment”, and His biography was listed in Who's Who in The World in 1999.

Biography

Mohamed Bakhouya is a professor of computer science at the International University of Rabat. He obtained his HDR from UHA-France in 2013 and his PhD from UTBM-France in 2005. He has more than ten years of experience participating in, coordinating, and working on sponsored ICT projects. He was a reviewer of research projects for Agence Nationale de la Recherche (France, 2011), Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca (Italy, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2017), Qatar National Research Fund (2019, 2020), European Commission FP7 (2013–2015), CHIST-ERA (2021–2022), and CNRST (2022–2024). He was Editor-in-Chief of the IJARAS journal and also serves as a guest editor of a number of international journals, including ACM Transactions on Autonomous and Adaptive Systems, Product Development Journal, Concurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, FGCS, and MICRO. He has published several papers in international journals, books, and conferences. His research interests include various aspects related to the design, validation, and implementation of distributed and adaptive systems, architectures, and protocols.

He is also an active international speaker and contributor to the Cloud Native community.
