International Workshop

The 1st International Workshop Human Sciences and Artificial Intelligence: Mutual Perspectives, Shared Challenges

About the Event

AI is changing how we read texts, study societies, preserve heritage and understand language. The human sciences bring what AI needs most: critical thinking, ethics, cultural knowledge and a deep understanding of people. This workshop brings both worlds together to share methods, question assumptions and build lasting collaborations.

The workshop is built around two complementary questions. How can machine learning, language models and data analysis help scholars explore archives, texts, languages and social phenomena at a scale that was once impossible? And how can the knowledge of linguists, historians, sociologists, philosophers and anthropologists help build AI systems that respect cultural diversity, reduce bias and serve society responsibly?

Special attention will be given to Arabic, Amazigh and other under-resourced languages, whose place in modern AI tools is still limited.

During the event, participants will attend keynote lectures, thematic sessions, a round table and a hands-on workshop.

The meeting is open to researchers, doctoral students, teachers and professionals from universities, cultural institutions and the technology sector.

By bringing these communities together in Fez, we hope to encourage new interdisciplinary projects, strengthen academic networks across Morocco, Africa and the Mediterranean, and open a lasting conversation on the future of research in the age of AI.
